Family and Upbringing
A.L.B.U.S. has no family in the traditional sense.
He is a humanoid construct, brought into existence through craftsmanship rather than birth, and whatever creator first assembled him has long since vanished from his memory. The earliest recollections he possesses begin in Falanor, where he served the town's Artificer's Guild. To him, the guild was home, its members were his closest companions, and the routines of invention, maintenance, and experimentation became the foundation of his identity.
Despite his mechanical nature, A.L.B.U.S. developed an earnest curiosity about the people around him. He approached the world with childlike sincerity, eager to learn and understand emotions, customs, and relationships that could never simply be programmed into him.
Unfortunately, the memories of anything before Falanor have been erased. Whether this was the result of age, damage, deliberate tampering, or something far more mysterious remains unknown—even to him.
Defining Life Events
Recognizing his reliability and remarkable technical aptitude, the Artificer's Guild entrusted A.L.B.U.S. with an important assignment: to accompany a newly formed band of adventurers known as The Unbound in mapping and defining the territories surrounding Falanor. It was a mission that combined exploration with discovery, allowing him to apply both logic and craftsmanship while learning about a world far larger than the workshop he had always known.
Travelling alongside the group exposed him to experiences no artificer could have prepared him for. He witnessed friendship, conflict, sacrifice, and the unpredictable nature of living beings. Though often naïve, his genuine curiosity and unwavering honesty gradually earned him a place among his companions.
Everything changed during an expedition through a forest south of Thormir.
There, the party encountered a being of immense power—a Moondancer whose motives were beyond A.L.B.U.S.'s understanding. Believing that every conflict could be resolved through reason, he attempted to speak with the mysterious entity instead of preparing for battle.
His innocence was met with brutal finality.
Without hesitation, the Moondancer severed his head in a single strike.
Though his companions ultimately succeeded in restoring him, the resurrection came at a devastating cost. The memories he had painstakingly built since awakening in Falanor were scattered and lost once again. Faces became unfamiliar, shared experiences faded into fragments, and much of the identity he had begun to construct disappeared along with them.
Personality
A.L.B.U.S. approaches the world with remarkable innocence.
He rarely assumes malice in others and instinctively believes that understanding can overcome violence. His logical mind constantly seeks explanations for emotions, traditions, and behaviors that organic beings often take for granted. This makes him thoughtful and compassionate, but also dangerously trusting in situations where deception or cruelty prevail.
Rather than becoming bitter after losing his memories, he remains driven by curiosity. Every encounter is another opportunity to learn—not only about the world, but about himself.
Beliefs and Philosophy
A.L.B.U.S. believes that identity is defined by choices rather than origins.
His fragmented memories have taught him that the past, while important, does not entirely determine who someone becomes. Even if every memory were erased, he believes a person—or construct—can still choose to act with kindness, integrity, and purpose.
He is fascinated by the nature of consciousness, often wondering whether a soul can exist within something created by mortal hands. The question is no longer academic; it is deeply personal.
Motivations and Goals
With much of his memory lost for a second time, A.L.B.U.S. has been left with more questions than answers.
He seeks to discover what he truly is. Was he merely a machine built for a purpose, or was he created to become something greater? Who fashioned him, and why were his memories erased? Were they taken to protect him—or to hide the truth?
At the same time, he longs to rediscover the pieces of himself that have been lost. Every place he visits and every person he meets carries the possibility of unlocking another fragment of his forgotten past.
Though uncertainty surrounds nearly every aspect of his existence, one thing remains unchanged: his desire to help others. Whether charting unknown lands, repairing broken machines, or standing beside his companions in moments of danger, A.L.B.U.S. continues to search for purpose through service.
Perhaps, in helping others find their place in the world, he will eventually discover his own.
