Backstory
Born in Vyrengard, Nuon began life as any noble might: surrounded by family, friends, and wealth. The Darkh family ruled peacefully over a small Stad in northern Shaede, settlements built as places of refuge and order. Powerful magical protections bound to reality and time made it difficult for creatures of evil to enter.
But in 800 DS (Draconic Silence), the Stads began falling one by one. As attacks increased, many fled south through the mountains toward Shaede, leaving their homes behind in search of safety. The Darkhs remained until the very end, sheltering noble families and helping them escape.
Then, one night, everything changed.
Nuon, raised to become a soldier, awoke to screams echoing throughout the Stad. Dark creatures with sharp teeth moved through the streets, appearing and disappearing into the night as they attacked every household. When they reached the Darkh estate, Nuon fought back, but was quickly overwhelmed and taken prisoner by a group of vampires.
He knew nothing about vampires, but his strength and health made him valuable. He was turned into a servant to one of the children of the family that had taken control of his home.
Eventually, Nuon escaped.
He ran for days, but something inside him was changing. His eyes began to decay, his humanity slowly slipping away. He did not understand what was happening until he fed for the first time.
These vampires did not drink blood.
They consumed memories, dreams, and desires.
After weeks of fleeing and fighting through hostile territory, and after crossing the treacherous northern mountain range, Nuon finally reached Shaede, where he was rescued by a religious group.
But salvation did not bring peace.
Nuon was consumed by anger — anger toward the creatures who had destroyed his home, and toward himself for being too weak to stop them.
It was then that he met one of the leaders of the Acolytes of Gulomirr, who told him of a god who represented Justified Fury.
Nuon immediately understood.
He swore an oath to Gulomirr: he would use his powers and abilities to eradicate evil from the region, no matter the cost. He would never feed upon the innocent. Instead, he would consume the dreams and desires of the corrupt and wicked, purging their darkness and cleansing the bloodlines they had tainted.
Now, Nuon stands upon the final battlefield of the Holy War, caught between the three religious orders of Shaede.
For him, this is not simply a war.
It is another step toward fulfilling his oath.
And Nuon will not stop until there is nothing left to cleanse.
